The DigiGone Difference: Tailored Ultra-Low Bandwidth Solutions for Remote Locations

Since 2007, DigiGone has specialized in telemedicine — long before it became a medical buzzword in 2020. Our telemedicine line of products and services, digiMed, has been an industry standard, bringing virtual walk-in clinics to remote locations.

And because we’re a specialized technology company with autonomy and expertise, we’ve been able to customize our ultra-low bandwidth products — including telemedicine, remote asset monitoring, and communications — to fit the unique needs of our clients. We’ve helped the maritime, oil and gas and mining industries adapt to the world around them.

CrewChat, A Purpose-Driven Solution

And that’s exactly why we created CrewChat, an ultra-low bandwidth video, voice, and text communications tool for remote locations.

During the pandemic,
‘the forgotten army’ of mariners were stuck on ships, in ports, and in many places in between. Six-month contracts extended into a year or more. Cases of depression and mental health issues plagued seafarers who were isolated from friends and family for extended periods.

As a result, a robust crew welfare plan is something all vessel management companies have to address.

One of the primary components of a crew welfare plan is allowing seafarers to connect with friends and family. As we’ve written about before, having internet access will be seen as a right, not an amenity, especially with the much-needed tech-savvy younger workforce. Further, a solid crew welfare program enhances morale, which, research has shown,
mitigates risk on vessels and helps increase recruitment and retention

Business and Crew Welfare Solutions

Like many of our solutions-based products, the CrewChat platform and app were created with the industry's needs in mind. Our platform allows for product customization based on specific needs.

Since DigiGone is at its core a technology company, we’re able to marry
CrewChat with our telemedicine technology, digiMed. Now seafarers can connect with doctors, including mental health specialists, for consultations in the privacy of their own quarters, from anywhere at any time.

DigiGone also has the ability to address remote asset monitoring with our product
digiView, which has proven critical in both lawsuits, incident response time and crew safety. And with DigiChat, companies can connect with crew for on-the-job training, meetings, and repairs that might otherwise take weeks to facilitate.

Customization is truly what sets us apart.

This is all under the umbrella of ultra-low bandwidth, end-to-end encrypted telecommunications. Bottom line is, our specific product lines address the unique needs of industries, including maritime, oil & gas, remote medicine, and mining.

CrewChat is our latest product that:

  • Delivers ultra-low bandwidth video, voice, and text communications in remote areas.
  • Consumes no more than 70Kbps for uplink and no more than 100Kbps downlink.
  • Provides true end-to-end encryption using NIST-approved 256-bit AES.
  • Consists of two primary components, an app that is downloaded on crew phones and an Application Management Program.

DigiGone launched CrewChat an ultra-low bandwidth voice and video communications tool for remote locations in January 2023. Combined with our experience in the maritime and telemedicine industry, we offer stewardship in this sector. For more information visit digigone.com/crewchat to request a demonstration.
